An Adaptive Control Approach to Satellite Formation Flying With Relative Distance Constraints Jonathan Lawton Randal W. Beard Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Brigham Young University Fred Y. Hadaegh Jet Propulsion Laboratory California Institute of Technology Abstract In this paper we present a spacecraft control for rigid eet rotations. This is done by creating a eet template which is slowly rotated to generate desired trajectories for each individual spacecraft. By rotating the template slow enough each spacecraft is able to track these trajectories to within a given tolerance in the presence of actuator saturation. Simulations for a three spacecraft eet are given.

Attitude Synchronization Control in Satellite Formation Flying in the Presence of States Measurement Errors
This paper presents a novel attitude synchronization framework for tracking control of multiple identical/heterogeneous satellites in formation flying with connected communication graph. The main contribution of the paper is considering sensors' measurement error to derive control gains. Moreover, the proposed strategy need no angular velocity communication. Nevertheless, the tracking synchroni...
متن کاملFuzzy Adaptive Control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Carrying Time-Varying Cargo on Predefined Path
At present, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been increased dramatically. The reasons for this development are cheapness, smallness, simplicity, and diversity of missions. The simplicity of guidance and control of multi-rotor drones is that they are equipped with an autopilot system. This system is responsible for flying control. UAVs do not have a high weight and often have three...
متن کاملIntelligent Auto pilot Design for a Nonlinear Model of an Autonomous Helicopter by Adaptive Emotional Approach
There is a growing interest in the modeling and control of model helicopters using nonlinear dynamic models and nonlinear control. Application of a new intelligent control approach called Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) to design autopilot for an autonomous helicopter is addressed in this paper. This controller is applied to a nonlinear model of a helicopter. This...
متن کاملFirst Results from a Hardware-in-the-Loop Demonstration of Closed-Loop Autonomous Formation Flying
A closed-loop system for the demonstration of autonomous satellite formation flying technologies using hardware-in-the-loop has been developed. Making use of a GPS signal simulator with a dual radio frequency outlet, the system includes two GPS space receivers as well as a powerful onboard navigation processor dedicated to the GPS-based guidance, navigation, and control of a satellite formation...
متن کاملDecentralized Adaptive Output Feedback Attitude Synchronization Tracking Control of Satellite Formation Flying
A quaternion-based attitude synchronization tracking problem is treated for satellite formation flying without using absolute and relative angular velocity measurements. More specifically, an adaptive control based output feedback attitude synchronization tracking control law is first developed under the requirement of communication links between each satellite in formation and the desired traj...
